On behalf of the staff of St. Oliver Plunkett’s Junior School, I would like to extend a warm welcome to the Junior Infants of 2024.

Our wish for them is that they will spend very happy, fruitful years with us. Our dedicated staff and the support structures we have in place ensure that the children in our care get the best opportunities to develop to their full potential.

Our School is a happy and safe place, where every child matters. We provide a warm, nurturing environment where our children can thrive and develop

St. Oliver Plunkett’s Junior School first opened its doors in June 1976. We are a mixed Junior School who provide an excellent education to the children of Finglas South from Junior Infants until 2nd Class. We also provide an Early Start Class for children in the year before they start school.

We currently have 23 members of staff made up of 7 class teachers, , 4 teachers on our Special Education Team, an administrative principal, a childcare worker, 9 SNAs, and our secretary, caretaker, cleaner and dinner lady. Our Home School Liaison Teacher is shared with St. Malachy’s SNS who are on the same campus as us.

We have a sensory room and garden, a nurture room and garden and lots of outdoor space for outdoor learning.

We have a sensory room, a nurture room and a recently renovated courtyard which can be used for outdoor learning in the spring and summer.

Ursula Reilly is Principal of the school and Jen Maher is our Deputy Principal. Caroline Kennedy is our school secretary. All  staff members work together to ensure that St. Oliver Plunkett’s JNS is a happy place for children to attend.

We use a nurturing approach to teaching and we pride ourselves in being a trauma-informed school. We even have a dog called Thor! Click here to meet him!

St. Oliver Plunkett’s is a Catholic school under the patronage of the Archdiocese of Dublin, but we welcome children of all religions and none.

Ursula Reilly,
Principal.
